So you’re out of inspiration huh? Don’t worry as this happens to me all the time. What do I do when that happens you ask?
No no, don’t go screaming at your equipment or nature, or even worse at your family and friends, let’s GET you some inspiration!
Read some Photography e-Books
There are lots of free Photography e-Books online for you to read and get inspired from. Quality ones. You can find a list of my Top 5 FREE Photography books here or search it up in Google. You will be amazed at how many good reads you can find.
Our friends over at ExpertPhotography have compiled an even bigger list of free Photography e-Books. You can read more about this by following this link. They call it the “The Big List of Free Photography eBooks”.

Yeah it can be a bit frustrating. Relax and and read an e-Book.
What I sometimes do is:
- Search on Google for some cool photography e-Books
- First have a look if it’s pretty. If not I move on to the next one.
- After finding the right one for me I have a go at it for 10-15 minutes.
- Then I search online who wrote it. Is he a photographer? Is he a writer? Does he have an online website or a portfolio? Did he write more books like this one?
- And it goes on like that and suddenly POP! a great inspiration comes into my head.
No inspiration yet? No worries, we continue below!
Instagram Inspiration
WHAT?
Yeup. Search your shooting style on Instagram. Even if you don’t want to admit, there is always someone with a crazy good idea or concept that you just didn’t of. Hey you can’t think of everything right?
So what do we do? If your style is, lets say, street photography, go look “#streetphotograpy” for example, on Instagram and just scroll through. There are some bad ones, there are some good ones… Any idea yet?

What sometimes helps me personally is to just browse through random stuff on Instagram. For example I like scrolling through food photography, portrait photography, even some funny reels helps, you know why? It clears your head, calms you down but your subconscious keeps working!
Socializing may help?
Socialize with other creative minds
This is not exactly brainstorming but I remember one time I called a friend who happens to be a Graphics Designer, we talked about our day and then about our troubling issues.
And at some point she goes “well, why don’t you try this” and she explained what she meant…
I was blown away! Why didn’t I think of that!?
Well, I didn’t think of that because when we are involved in a situation we tend to overcomplicate things, a step back wouldn’t hurt but since most of the times we are busy panicking 🙂, it would be great if we could “Socialize with other creative minds”.
Wrapping up
Sometimes the idea is around the corner but sometimes you just have to take a break. The sky’s the limit they say, yes, but our energy is limited. When we try so hard everyday to achieve our goals, whatever those may be, our mind gets overheated and needs to rest.
Maybe a nice outdoor view with a glass of wine in your hand would help,
What do you think?
